"If I had to pick a typical student hangout here on campus, I'd sayanywhere that has a computer, or now has wireless access."

  The Clusters

The Clusters contain Macintoshes, IBM-compatible PCs running Windows 2000 and UNIX (Linux and Solaris) workstations for the Andrew system. Examples include PowerMac G4/450s, dual Pentium III/600 Windows machines, Sun Ultra 5/360s and Pentium III/700 Linux machines.

Additional equipment such as printers, scanners, CD writers, and Zip and Jaz drives are available. An extensive software collection offers the latest versions for class assignments and innovative projects.

At Carnegie Mellon, you'll be "connected" whether in your classroom or dorm room. In fact, a new wireless campus network extends the university's networking opportunities even further, making computing more convenient than ever.

Other features include an online Computing@Carnegie Mellon (C@CM) for new students, a Computer Store that sells everything from laptops to digital cameras at a discount and a Help Center that provides step-by-step computer support to the university community.
