Joining the lab

Graduate Students (Ph.D. and M.S.)

We are looking for full time Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. and M.S. students in the following areas:

  • (M.S. / Ph.D.) Sketch-based 3D design.
  • (M.S. / Ph.D.) Geometric modeling.
  • (M.S. / Ph.D.) Virtual/Augmented reality.
  • (M.S. / Ph.D.) Learning and reusing design information.
  • (M.S. / Ph.D.) Bio-medical Modeling and Simulation.
  • (M.S. / Ph.D.) Sketch understanding.

If you are interested in joining our group, you should:

  • Indicate in your application forms that you are interested in working with me.
  • Send me an email (lkara@cmu.edu) with (1) Your CV, (2) Contact information of at least three references, and (3) A brief statement of which particular areas you are interested in.

Applicants who have interest and experience in computational research are very much encouraged. A strong background and interest in Numerical Methods, Linear Systems, Optimization, and Computer Graphics is highly desirable. Knowledge of C/C++, Matlab, and OpenGL is highly recommended.

Undergraduate Students
