Buncher Entrepreneurship Scholar Award
Carnegie Mellon University is pleased to announce a new fund from the Jack Buncher Foundation to establish the Buncher Entrepreneurship Scholar Award. This award will fund Carnegie Mellon undergraduate students in full for participation in a summer experience focused on entrepreneurship at Technion University. This program includes an entrepreneurship course and internship. The award will cover the cost of tuition for the course and internship, round trip travel to Haifa, Israel, housing, and stipend for meals up to $10,000.
This award is open to all majors. U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international students are invited to apply.
Eligibility requirements for the Buncher Entrepreneurship Scholar Award include:
- Currently enrolled with undergraduate first-year, sophomore or junior status
- Full-time student status for two semesters at time of departure for Technion University
- Baccalaureate degree in progress
- Minimum QPA of 3.00
- Return to Carnegie Mellon as a full time student in the fall semester following the travel abroad experience
Candidates will complete two applications,
a. Buncher Entrepreneurship Scholar Award application, and
b. Technion University’s application.
The Buncher Entrepreneurship Scholar Award application includes an application form to be submitted via The Bridge, a 2-page personal statement outlining the candidate’s motivation for seeking this opportunity, and a letter of recommendation. Please note that the Technion University application also requires a personal statement and letter of recommendation. In this case, applicants should submit the same statement and recommendation for both applications. Conferral of a Buncher Entrepreneurship Award is contingent upon acceptance by Technion University for the summer course and internship.
Requirements for recipients:
All recipients must attend a required Pre-Departure Orientation Session and complete all pre-departure paperwork prior to their experience abroad. Awardees must also schedule a meeting with Joanna Dickert, Assistant Director of the Undergraduate Research Office (URO) prior to departure. Additionally, recipients must complete an undergraduate research project upon their return and will be required to present their work at Meeting of the Minds 2018.
Applications for the 2017 Buncher Scholar Award will be available on the Bridge beginning February 1, 2017.
