University Center Poster Policy
Locations for posting printed materials
Permitted "open" boards
There are several locations available to students or organizations for the placement of posters on each floor of the University Center. Locations include:
- Lower level above the water fountains in the elevator lobby
- 1st floor by north entrance (Forbes) and above the water fountains in the elevator lobby
- 2nd floor above the water fountains in the elevator lobby
- 3rd floor above the water fountains in the elevator lobby and on the bulletin boards in the main corridor
Controlled access boards
Controlled boards are maintained by the University Center staff and are available with permission to students or organizations for the placement of posters in the University Center. Locations include:
- The daily boards on the east wall of the Kirr Commons area
- The upcoming events boards on the west wall of the Kirr Commons area
- Any other board specified is for use by the University Center staff. These boards will be indicated through the use of clearly legible and easily visible notices.
Locations prohibited to posting printed materials
Walls, doors, columns, piers, pylons, floors, cielings, windows, furniture, and fixtures (including light fixtures, vents, pipes, radiators, water fountains, soap dispensers, toilets, urinals, sinks, bathroom partitions, etc.)
Restrictions for posting
Active posters may not be posted in duplicate on a single board.
Posters may not be posted over active posters.
Posters may not exceed 11"x 17"
Posting on controlled boards
Organizations are required to provide at least three (3) posters to the Information Desk. Two of the posters will be posted in the appropriate location and the other will be placed in a binder at the Information Desk.
Event date and time information is required in English. The rest of the poster may be written in any language.
Approval
The building supervisor is responsible for approving your poster. If the poster fails the requirement for posting, or is deemed inappropriate for posting on the restricted access boards in the University Center, then the poster will not be posted and may be returned, destroyed, or recycled. All approved posters will be stamped with a stamp indicating the date of its approval.
Posting
If the poster is approved, a building supervisor will post it as his or her work schedule permits.
Removal of posters
Duration of postings
Posters will remain posted for a duration of fourteen (14) days or until the date specified on the poster, whichever comes first.
Authorized removal
Any University Center building supervisor or administrator has the right to remove posters from any bulletin board in the University Center.
Sign stands
Reserve the sign stands with the University Center Scheduling Office. During the room reservation process, reserve the number of sign stands needed for the event. Signs may be mounted on a hard surface, such as foam core or poster board;however, this is not a requirement.
Posting
You may request a supervisor to help you post the signs on the sign stand(s). However, the supervisor is responsible only for the correct placement of the stand; the posting of signs on these stands is your responsibility and is optional for the supervisor. Sign stands are not to go outside of the building. After your event, please collect all of the signs placed on sign stands. Any signs left on sign stands after your event will be discarded or recycled.
Display case space
Reserve space in the display case through the University Center Scheduling Office. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance. Confirmation of the reservation request will be provided via e-mail or phone by the University Center Scheduling Office. University Center events have priority.
Duration
Any information submitted can be displayed for only a period of seven (7) days and exceptions can be made based on availability of space.
Any violation of this policy may result in fines levied against you or your organization. This policy may be amended or revised as deemed necessary by the University Center administrators.
