2009 Dickson Prize

Stalking Dark Energy & the Mystery of the Accelerating Universe

Carnegie Mellon University will award the 2009 Dickson Prize in Science to Dr. Saul Perlmutter, one of the world's premier astrophysicists.  Perlmutter is a professor of physics at the University of California, Berkeley and a senior scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.  He is also the leader of the Supernova Cosmology Project, an international collaboration of research teams from seven countries who are measuring the expansion history of the universe.
 
Following the award presentation, Dr. Perlmutter will present a lecture titled "Stalking Dark Energy & the Mystery of the Accelerating Universe".
 
A reception will immediately follow in Rangos Hall, second floor, University Center.
