Professor David Blight will discuss his latest book, A Slave No More: Two Men Who Escaped to Freedom, Including Their Narratives of Emancipation (2007).  Based on manuscripts discovered in 2004, an event given front-page coverage by The New York Times, Professor Blight reconstructed the authors' lives in slavery and freedom to reveal a complex process of emancipation that long outlasted the Civil War and Reconstruction.
