Sophie Freud’s book Living in the Shadow of the Freud Family deals with the life of her mother who had a complex relationship with her father-in-law, Sigmund Freud. The talk will introduce her mother and then walk us through the part of the book that describes their adventurous journey from Vienna to the U.S.A.  On the way we will hear about the grim fates of relatives and friends and how Sophie and her Mother accidentally survived the Holocaust.
