Shuttle and Escort Services
These services are coordinated through University Police.
The CMU Shuttle Service is a fixed route, fixed stop transportation option which is available to all CMU students, faculty, and staff. There are different shuttle buses which operate within the geographical areas which surround Carnegie Mellon. Presently, there are buses which service the North Oakland and Shadyside areas. Both Oakland and Shadyside routes have been expanded to service members of our community who reside as far as Beechwood Boulevard in Squirrel Hill and Shady Avenue in Shadyside.
We also have the Bakery Square (Google Headquarters) and PTC (Pittsburgh Technology Center) Shuttles which are buses dedicated to transporting CMU affiliates between campus and those locations. Improvements have been made to the Bakery Square Shuttle which will provide another transportation opportunity to campus for affiliates who reside in the Shady Avenue and Fifth Avenue areas.
The CMU Escort Service is an evening and night time transportation option that services the geographical areas surrounding Carnegie Mellon, to include Squirrel Hill, Shadyside, and Oakland. The service provides transportation from 6 designated campus pick-up locations to the intersection closest to the rider's residence. The pick-up locations are marked by official university signage, bearing the word "Escort". The Escort Service is limited to a 1.5 mile radius from campus. There have been a number of important improvements made to the Escort Service for the 2012-2013 school year.
Please refer to the Shuttle and Escort Website for more specific transportation information.
