**Attention DELL Warranty Customers - Effective February 2011**
Dell only covers cost of labor for warranty replacement of the logic board or LCD.  End users are expected to cover labor costs (@ $50 per hour via SarCom) for anything else, even if the part is covered under warranty.

In January 2008, Computing Services partnered with Sarcom, Inc. to provide a wider variety of computer hardware repair services to the campus community.  This partnership allowed us to expand our repair capabilities while maintaining the high quality of service that Computer Maintenance provided.

Moving the management of the repair service to the University Store will allow the Division of Campus Services to continue to provide outstanding customer service in one convenient, centralized location.

ABOUT THE SOFTWARE/IT RELATED SERVICE

The following services can now be performed by SARCOM technicians:

  • Operating System Installation/Repair (Windows/Mac)
  • Troubleshoot Operating System Problems & Repairs
  • Install/Uninstall Antivirus Software
  • Malware/Virus Scans and Removal
  • Registry Repair
  • Check-Disk Evaluations; Disk Defragmentation
  • Application & Driver Installation


ABOUT THE HARDWARE REPAIR SERVICE
If your hardware is still under the manufacturer's warranty, the repair service will be covered by your warranty.
Non-warranty service is also provided for these vendors at reasonable rates.

The following methods of payment will be accepted for all computer repairs:

Major Credit Cards
Debit Cards

Your business manager may contact the front counter to process payment directly by phone by calling 412-268-2636. 
Please be aware that the charge for repair service on your credit statement will list "Sarcom" as the description.

Sarcom, Inc. is a national company and a fully owned subsidiary of PC Mall. 
They have over 700 Engineers, Technicians and Project Managers. 
They hold over 4200 certifications and authorizations and are a
certified Dell, Apple and Lenovo authorized repair center.

Price List

We offer our services to members of the campus community at rates designed to offset some of our operating costs. This pricing structure results in cost savings for our customers when compared to prices of off-campus, commercial enterprises.

1. Rates are "Per Hour"
2. A $25 minimum applies for each service commitment
3. Warranty Parts will be quoted to the end-user prior to ordering parts
4. Non-Warranty Part will be quoted to the end-user prior to ordering part
5. Department users who use a Tartan charge card will not be charged tax.
