Staff Council's Annual Food Drive
Carnegie Mellon's 18th Annual Food Drive, sponsored by Staff Council, took place on Monday, October 31 through Friday, November 11, 2011.
The Food Drive Committee would like to thank the many volunteers and the entire campus community for pitching in and making the 2011 drive the best one yet! Over the two week drive, 8,667 pounds of non-perishables were collected along with $3,982.90. Note that the 2010 Food Drive had been our largest year for BOTH pounds and dollars, collecting 9,026 pounds and $2,607.90. However, given we were down only 359 pounds of non-perishables but up $1,375 – and given the Food Bank’s “buying power” – we can certainly boast that, once again, our campus community rose to the occasion to do even better, making this is our best drive ever!
Each year, the drive benefits those in need of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, which is a non-profit organization that collects, stores, and distributes food and household products to nearly 350 charitable agencies in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The 19th Annual Food Drive will take place in the fall of 2012. Contact Carole Panno for more details or if you’re interested in volunteering.
