Inaugural Meeting of the Simon Initiative Reading Club

Inaugural Meeting of the Simon Initiative Reading Club

Simon Reading ClubFebruary 22 is the first meeting of the student-led Learning Sciences and Educational Technology Reading Club. Anyone is welcome to join the club as we read and discuss interdisciplinary articles, essays, books, and other written works to help inform the work we do, whether we are learning scientists, developers of educational technology, or practitioners who use educational technology in our classrooms. For our inaugural text, we will read Bill Ferster’s Teaching Machines and some blog posts by Audrey Watters. These are works that present the history of educational technology, how that history repeats itself, and why the dividends of educational technologies have been meager in spite of their great promise.

Wednesday, February 22
10am-11am
Baker Hall 154R
Refreshments will be served

If you are interested in attending, please fill out this survey so we can get a sense of how many people to expect and whether we should consider scheduling future meetings for a different time.
