In conjunction with the annual alumni barbecue, the Silicon Valley campus held its first Tech Showcase where faculty, researchers and students presented their current research to alumni, friends of the campus and Silicon Valley community. An inquisite and curious crowd of over 100 learned about the research with topics ranging from healthcare solutions and emergency response to mobile applications and geo-tagging.
Nineteen research projects were presented and awards were given for Best Demonstration and Best Presentation. The student and faculty team of Jonathan Becker, Jason Lohn, Patrick Tague, Derek Linden won Best Demonstration for "Adaptive Beamforming for Anti-Jamming and Assured Network Communications" and the student team of Pras Sarkar, Nick Briggs, Truc Nguyen, Tom Chao and Shiqi Yang won Best Presentation for "Gourmaide: Helping You Turn a Recipe into a Delicious Meal."
