Title: Collaborative Manufacturing: How the Next Generation in Production Systems will save US Jobs & Intellectual Property
Abstract:

This talk will discuss the challenges faced by domestic original equipment manufactures (OEMs) as they strive to succeed in a hyper competitive global market place. The problems faced by today's OEMs are as much about differing business philosophies and cultures as they are about technology, logistics, and lower cost structures.

In the last few years, new methodologies and business models have emerged to change the manufacturing landscape in ways we are just now beginning to understand. Developed by tech savvy manufacturing engineers and entrepreneurs, these new approaches are behind the current resurgence of hardware development and manufacturing companies focused on beating the competition and keeping jobs and intellectual property (IP) in the US. Automation-based manufacturing technologies, adaptive business systems, new management mindsets, and OEM infrastructure solutions are being used to create an integrated and virtual manufacturing capability for OEMs looking for viable alternatives to standard off shoring.
