CMU-SV Carnival 2013 - Calling All Alumni, Friends and Family

Are you a Bay Area Carnegie Mellon alum, notice that it’s April, feel your Tartan pride swelling up and immediately think of Carnival? Do you wish you could go back to campus for Carnival? Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley has got you covered! The Silicon Valley campus is excited for its third annual Carnival West and invites YOU – all students, alumni, friends and family to attend for games, picnic and fun for the whole family.

Event Details:

  • Date: April 20, 2013
  • Time: 11:00AM-3:00PM
  • Location: Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley Moffett Field, Mountain View, CA 94035

This year’s festivities will bring back the popular egg drop competition (this is CMU, after all), as well as a video feed from Pittsburgh of the Sweepstakes Buggy races, an opportunity to build your own LEGO buggy and decorate a wooden buggy, and take pictures with a live Scotty Dog, the official CMU mascot.

New for this year are Scottish Country Dance lessons and "Bandit" buggy on display donated by Team Fringe (2000) and alumni Ken Billet, Thomas Sean Kelleher and Scott Ziolko. If none of those activities sound interesting, not to worry! There is also a bean bag toss, volleyball, Frisbee, horseshoes, badminton and croquet to entertain any and all guests. A picnic along with with cotton candy and popcorn will also be available.

All proceeds for the picnic and activities fair will go to the Second Harvest Food Bank. We encourage you to bring non-perishable items and canned goods to donate as well and you’ll receive free game tickets!

  • Meal tickets $12 for adults,
  • $5 for children (Age 10 and under),
  • FREE for children (Age 2 and under)

*Tickets for the activities fair will be available on-site for $.50 each, or a strip of 25 for $10.

If you’re interested in volunteering, you’ll receive lunch on us! So come and help man some of the Carnival activities. Contact for more information.
