Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley Gets a Facelift!
The renovations to building 23 are wrapping up. As the before and after photos reflect, this was quite an undertaking and was completed in a very short period of time for the changes that were made. Beginning in October 2009, a number of additions and redesigns were implemented. Over the last 4 months, workers have been diligently constructing, installing and painting new office space as well as updating existing conference and class rooms. Some of the updates you will notice immediately are newly installed video and audio equipment, user-friendly furniture installations; not to mention a fresh coat of paint and brand new carpeting on the second floor. Additionally, all of the key administrative staff is now together in a suite of offices on the 2nd floor.
As our current students return and we welcome the new PhD candidates starting this spring, the excitement in the air is measurable as finishing touches are made and boxes are unpacked. We encourage you to stop by and check out the new facilities. The investments we have made to improve building 23 are just the beginning. While we continue to grow, we are looking forward to the next phase of expansion to a wing in building 19 across the parade grounds. Our expansion is a sign of success and we are thrilled to be including space in other buildings.
We look forward to another exciting academic year and hope that you find the new environment to be reflective of the Carnegie Mellon experience we have all come to expect!
