PEP - Personal Emergency Preparedness

Summary: Families or loved ones may not be together in an emergency, so it is important to plan in advance. Attend this workshop to learn how to be better prepared as an individual or family. Topics will include what to do before, during and after an earthquake. Discussions will be on how to make a family plan, build an emergency kit and what items should be included and the proper way to store it. The workshop will also teach basic prevention or mitigation strategies that you can do in your home to protect your family and valuables.
About the Speaker: Lynn started with the Mountain View Fire Department November 2000. As OES coordinator, his job is to prepare the residents, employees, businesses and schools in Mountain View for emergencies and disasters. He has extensive experience in neighborhood preparedness programs. Lynn has a BS in communications from Florida State University and over 20 years of experience in Emergency Management. He has completed the Professional Development Series, a curriculum offered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Lynn also serves as the Public Information Officer for the Fire Department and is a graduate of the California Standardized Training Institute’s Crisis Communication and the Media. In addition to academics, he has hands-on experience in emergencies and disasters including the Oakland Hills fire, flooding as a result of El Nino and a rare California tornado in 1998.
