Description:
Advances in device technology and software applications have made it possible to very rapidly acquire information in the aftermath of disasters and to coordinate distributed response. From networked sensors to smartphones, from locationing to biometrics, from SMS to geo-referenced imaging the possibilities are many.
This panel will explore the implications and challenges of these devices and applications across a broad range of use cases:
- urban and rural environments
- small scale to large scale events
- differences between fire, flooding, earthquake, man-made disasters
