MOU Signed to Include DMI in SCEWN Emergency Network

As partners in Carnegie Mellon University’s Disaster Management Initiative, San Jose Water Company and the Santa Clara Emergency Wireless Network (SCEWN) signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding on October 26, 2010, thus clearing the final hurdle to expand the SCEWN emergency network to include the CMU Silicon Valley campus, other sites at NASA’s Moffett Field, and San Jose Water Company’s own emergency management operations. With the cooperation of NASA Ames, the addition of these relay points will provide backup access to the internet for an expanding set of emergency operation centers and key installations in the southern San Francisco Bay area extending from Menlo Park south to Los Gatos and east of San Jose.
