MS Software Engineering - Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley - Carnegie Mellon University

Part-time M.S. Software Engineering

The Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley two-year, part-time MS in Software Engineering program is designed for software engineers interested in becoming senior engineers, architects, technical project leaders, and software development managers. The program prepares experienced software engineers for technical leadership roles in software development organizations. Like the full-time program, the part-time program features both a Technical track focusing on technical leadership skills, and a Development Management track focusing on project management leadership skills.

During the first year of the program, emphasis is placed on core skills necessary for success in software product development such requirements analysis, architectural design, and construction. Second-year courses are tailored to the goals of each track. Within both tracks, you will learn how to align software engineering decisions with your company’s business goals and to develop the communication, teamwork, and negotiation skills needed to be an effective technical leader.
