18-638/96-835 Mobile Security

This course will focus on aspects of information and network security that arise in mobile systems, including cellular systems, wireless Internet, and mobile ad-hoc networks. Material addressed will be a mixture of protocol standards for existing systems, proposals for next-generation systems, and research challenges in future systems. Possible topics of study include Mobile IP security; security of mobile code; cross-domain access control; attacks by mobile adversaries; secure adaptation to network dynamics; and location privacy. The course will be mostly project-oriented, where projects may consist of simulation of algorithms and/or attacks, design and implementation of protocols, and identification and mitigation/patching of vulnerabilities.
