Complement Experience with Methodologies and Techniques

"I had no previous educational training in software management prior to coming to Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley, despite having managed software professionals, projects, and systems for several years in my career. I wanted to complement my extensive on-the-job experience with a corresponding graduate degree that would expose me to new methodologies and techniques in software management and provide opportunities to exchange ideas with faculty members and other proven leaders in the field.

The MS in Software Management program has already positively impacted my job performance and my career. Participation in team projects at school has helped me analyze and evaluate how I participate in my real-life team at work and contribute more productively to the organization. I know more about the terminology and the different approaches to software management and am able to apply that knowledge to make better decisions and act more effectively. I also now view organizational issues more formally and thoroughly. Finally, I was recently promoted from Senior Director to Vice President of Software Engineering at my company and am certain that the MS in Software Management from Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley will serve me well in my new position.
