Focus in a Uniquely Synergistic Atmosphere
"Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley had a number features that distinguished it from other schools. For me, the most attractive feature was the recently established CyLab Mobility Research Center. I was looking for a graduate program that would allow me to pursue my research interests in mobile networked systems, including non-traditional sensor networks. The PhD program in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a focus in mobility was particularly appealing because of the opportunities it offered to study with faculty who were experts in mobile systems technology. The Mobility Research Center’s Silicon Valley location, in proximity to many of the leading companies in the mobile systems industry, was another strong selling point enhancing the already solid and dynamic learning environment at the Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley campus.
The bicoastal nature of the PhD program was also very appealing to me. Time spent at the Carnegie Mellon Silicon Valley campus allows me to focus my research interests through collaborative, hands-on coursework in a uniquely synergistic atmosphere of students and faculty. This part of my studies is complemented by spending time in the larger, more traditional university environment at the Carnegie Mellon Pittsburgh campus. As a result, I feel like my graduate education offers me the best of both worlds."
