Application Requirements

Admission for the CMU-R MSIT graduate program for the 2013-2014 Academic Year is now open. It is important to understand the application requirements before you begin the application process. The application process can be time consuming and requires input from external sources, so we advise interested students to plan accordingly.

CMU-R is open to students from all countries, but we target students from the East African Community (EAC) in our recruiting. CMU-R recruits and admits students in accordance with the standards and policies applied to applicants of the main campus.

Early Admission Deadline

All applications submitted by June 1st , 2013 will be considered for Admission Decision. Applications received after that date must include GRE and TOEFL or IELTS scores and will be considered only if more seats are available. Admission Decisions will be made on a “first-come, first-serve" basis in the order they are received.

How to Apply

You will be asked to submit the following documents during the online application process:

• Unofficial academic transcripts from previously attended universities
• Three letters of recommendation from people such as managers, professional colleagues, professors or academic advisors
• Current resume
• Official GRE General Test Score Results: 
  • Use the Department Code 0000 and the Institution Code 8847 for GRE score reports to be sent to CMU
  • Only GRE General Test is accepted; neither the GMAT nor GRE Subject Tests are accepted for admission evaluation
  • Learn about the GREs

• Official TOEFL or IELTS: 
  • All applicants are required to take either TOEFL or IELTS if English is not their native language, except for students who have earned their complete B.S. degree (all four years) in the United States.
  • Use the TOEFL Institution Code: 8847 and Department Code: 99 for TOEFL score reports to be sent to CMU.
