Event Manager (10 week short-term contract)
Carnegie Mellon in Rwanda (CMU-R) is seeking a dynamic candidate that can provide strategic leadership in managing the first CMU-R graduation to be held on July 24, 2014 in Kigali, Rwanda. This position is for a 10-week contract. S/he will be responsible for carrying out end-to-end event management from planning to execution. The logistical tasks required will include, but not be limited to:
-Confirming the agenda for both events
-Finalizing the guest list and confirming attendance
-Developing and managing a master checklist for event including a detailed timeline, identifying milestones and tracking progress
-Designing and overseeing the implementation of floor plan, venue setup, venue branding, etc.
-Working with CMU staff in Kigali and Pittsburgh to ensure CMU standards are upheld
-Coordinating reception/registration of out of town guests
-Preparing briefing packages for CMU out of town guests
-Managing all aspects of event execution including space and facilities, vendor management, and staff and protocol team
Candidates should possess excellent organizational skills; knowledge of relevant technologies is expected, in particular, using project management software, spreadsheet software, desktop publishing tools, as well as social media and other web marketing technologies. Excellence in English is compulsory; fluency in Kinyarwanda, French or Swahili is a plus. Relevant work experience with international organizations in preferred; experience in organizing high-level professional conferences and events is essential.
