Karen joined the Remaking Cities Institute in the summer of 2011 following her graduation from Carnegie Mellon University. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture with an additional major in history. Originally from Alabama, Karen has traveled and studied in New Zealand, Egypt, Russia, and Germany. These experiences have fostered a strong interest in a multidisciplinary approach to architecture that recognizes the importance of history, community, and the built environment.
