Rehabilitation Science and Technology
Yih-Kuen Jan, PhD, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology. Dr. Jan received the B.S. degree in Physical Therapy and M.S. degree in Biomedical Engineering from the National Yang Ming University, Taipei, Taiwan. He completed his Ph.D. training in Rehabilitation Science in 2004. Dr. Jan is a licensed Physical Therapist both in Taiwan and the United States. He has over 10 years of clinical experiences in physical therapy and human subject research. Dr. Jan's research interests include analysis of cardiovascular signals (ECG and blood flow), soft tissue mechanics and diabetic foot biomechanics. Dr. Jan has developed a novel method to characterize skin blood flow control mechanisms using wavelet analysis and pattern recognition. He serves as the PI of two grants funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research and PVA Spinal Cord Research Foundation to explore this technique. Dr. Jan teaches Rehabilitation Biomechanics to graduate students at the University of Pittsburgh.
