Welcome to the Office of Sponsored Programs
Administration and Services
Carnegie Mellon University is dedicated to creating and disseminating knowledge through research. The Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) contributes directly to this mission by providing comprehensive support to faculty and staff in the administration of externally sponsored research. Under the guidance of the Associate Vice President, the OSP fulfills three primary functions:
PRE-AWARD ADMINISTRATION
The Pre-award Administration Staff reviews and approves research proposals, ensures the accuracy of the budget for the proposed project, and handles the award negotiations. It also answers any inquiries related to regulations of the various funding agencies.
CONTRACTS ADMINISTRATION
The Contracts Administration Staff assists faculty and researchers in completing contracts with sponsors (both corporations and the government). In addition, it also handles discussions of such issues as intellectual property, confidentiality, publications, and any other contractual concerns.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE ADMINISTRATION
The Regulatory Compliance Staff represents the commitment of the university community to responsible research. It oversees the primary compliance areas of responsible conduct of research, conflict of interest, and research involving human subjects, animals, and recombinant DNA.
