Returning Students

If you are leaving campus for the summer or studying abroad, please forward your mail with the Carnegie Mellon University Post Office. We will forward all United States Postal Service domestic first class mail, magazines, and packages. Mail forwarding forms must be filled out online at http://www.cmu.edu/postoffice/forms/index.html.

Summer forwards are effective until August 1st. Study abroad forwards are effective until you inform the Post Office of your return to campus.

Graduating Students

Once you graduate, your mailbox will be released and you need to forward your mail before June 1st or your mail will be returned to sender. Mail forwarding forms must be filled out online at http://www.cmu.edu/postoffice/forms/index.html.

Forwards for students who have graduated are effective until thirty (30) days after commencement. We will forward all United States Postal Service domestic first class mail, magazines, and packages. After thirty (30) days, all mail received at the Carnegie Mellon University Post Office will be returned to sender. It is your responsibility to change your address with friends, family, cell phone companies, credit card companies, banks and other institutions from which you regularly receive mail.

Non-returning Students

We cannot forward mail after your SMC has been released. You may create a mail forwarding address through the United States Postal Services in order to receive your mail at your preferred address. This service can be found at https://www.usps.com.

PLEASE NOTE!!!!! Only United States Postal Service first class mail, magazines and packages may be forwarded. Please contact DHL, FedEx and UPS to forward packages from them. In addition, we cannot forward mail internationally.
