Procedures for Complying with the Employment Provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)

To comply with the employment provisions of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the job posting procedures for staff positions have been revised. Effective May 1, 1992, departments will be required to provide a position description containing the essential functions of the position, as well as a Personnel Requisition, whenever a staff vacancy is posted with the Employment Office.

The following resources are available to assist hiring departments in complying with these new procedures:

  • blank copies of the revised Position Description Form
  • samples of completed Position Description Forms for two positions - a Programmer/Analyst position and an Office Assistant III position
  • Human Resources staff members to assist hiring supervisors in the completion of the Position Description Form
  • Americans with Disabilities Act supervisory training

Please call the Employment Office at extension 8-2046 to request assistance.
