Welcome to the Carnegie Mellon University Police Department website.

The University Police Department is committed to the enhancement of the quality of life by providing a safe and secure environment for all university employees, students and guests. But we cannot do this alone, and rely on your assistance and support in accomplishing our mission.

We believe this can best be accomplished through a community-oriented, problem-solving focus based on building partnerships with every student, staff and faculty organization, group and individual. We strive to foster such partnerships by employing an impartial, customer-service attitude that focuses on protection and prevention, and is always respectful, courteous and professional. One excellent way to create such an environment is to fully inform the campus community about policies regarding safety and security, crimes that have occurred on and near campus, and the programs and services that your police department provides. It is our hope that this Web site will be both helpful and informative.

One of our primary guiding values is accountability. We hold ourselves accountable at all times to each other, our superiors and, most important, YOU. We encourage you to open the lines of communication and share with us your thoughts and insights. If you have a question, concern or suggestion about University Police policies or practices, the handling of a particular police matter or incident, or the behavior of any department employee, please contact us immediately and participate in either our Complaint Process or Commendation Process by clicking on one of the selections below.

We look forward to your comments and feedback.
