ROBBERY UPDATE
Suspect in Custody


To the Carnegie Mellon Community,

At approximately 1am Tuesday February 8, 2005, Pittsburgh police, Carnegie Mellon Police, and the University of Pittsburgh Police apprehended a suspect believed to be responsible for a series of armed robberies of multiple victims including three Carnegie Mellon students.

The suspect was apprehended in a parking garage on Craft Avenue following a foot pursuit by police officers. The suspect was in possession of a large amount of cash, a 9mm handgun, a ski mask, and several items belonging to recent victims. The suspect may be responsible for as many as 19 armed robberies in the Oakland and Shadyside areas within the past 2 weeks.
