SEXUAL ASSAULT

University Police received information that a Carnegie Mellon University student was sexually assaulted behind the WQED building the weekend of February 16th. The victim was unable to describe the assailant. The victim sought treatment and testing at a local hospital. A sexual assault advisor was subsequently contacted and the student has received sustained and on-going support.

LEARN TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM CRIME...

  • Never walk alone at night.
  • Stay in well-lit areas.
  • Consider alternative routes of travel to Fifth Avenue and the Oakland communities.
  • Use the Escort Service and SafeWalk at night.
  • Register for the RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) class schedule through University Police.
  • If you see suspicious persons lurking anywhere on or near campus, call Carnegie Mellon University Police at (412) 268-2323 or Pittsburgh Police at 911 immediately!
