Playwright Chad Pentler

Chad Pentler will graduate from Carnegie Mellon University with an M.F.A. in Dramatic Writing in May of 2009. His full length, The Rose Garden, was given a reading in New York as part of Potomac Theatre Company's After Dark Series last summer, and his new full-length, Dark Eden, received a workshop production at Carnegie Mellon as part of the Winter New Plays Festival.

Chad's one-act, "Your Very Own Daughter" was a Region 2 finalist for the Kennedy Center's American College Theatre Festival, and his monologue, "This Great New Job," was performed in New York and Los Angeles as part of Carnegie Mellon's 2009 Actors' Showcase.

His one-acts, "Lily Sanderson: Private Eye," and "Rose and Vicki: Two Dames to Dream About," were both given productions at Carnegie Mellon as part of the Playground Festival.

Chad's work has also been performed in Milwaukee, New Orleans, and Dublin, Ireland. He holds an M.Phil. in Theatre and Performance from Trinity College, Dublin, and a B.A. in English and Theatre from Tulane University. Chad is a two-time recipient of the Shubert Foundation Grant, as well as a recipient of the Nan Gunter Boykin Memorial Prize for Excellence in Dramatic Literature at Tulane University.

Chad is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, Inc. He lives in New York.
