Supplementary Round: ProSEED/Crosswalk Proposals Due April 29
ProSEED/Crosswalk announces a supplemental round of funding. Proposals are due April 29. This program aims to foster and promote new ideas that cross boundaries within and outside of CMU. Funds ranging from $500 - $2,500 may be requested to support the development of new initiatives in areas such as quality of campus life, service learning, student competitions, new course development, entrepreneurial activities and pilot projects.

Nominate Students for SOAR Honors
Student Activities will host its fourth annual Student Organization Award Recognition (SOAR) Ceremony from 5 – 6:30 p.m., Friday, April 29 in the Connan Room of the Cohon Center. The program honors Student Government or Division of Student Affairs recognized undergraduate and graduate organizations, members and advisers.
Nominations for the eight awards are due by 5 p.m. on Monday April 18. Anyone can self-nominate or nominate others. Some of the awards have a $200 cash prize for an organization or individual student.
Award categories are: Outstanding Student Organization; Outstanding Student Organization Program; Outstanding Student Organization Leader; Outstanding Student Organization Adviser; Outstanding New Initiative; Rising Star Award; Loyal Scot Alumni Engagement Award; and Spirit of Andrew Carnegie Award.

Guest Lecturers at CMU-Q Highlight Interdisciplinary Innovation
As the CMU-Q lecture series for 2015-16 draws to a close, three speakers from Pittsburgh continued the theme of interdisciplinary innovation that students, faculty, staff and the wider community in Qatar have heard throughout the year.
James H. Garrett, dean of the College of Engineering, outlined Metro21, the smart cities initiative that brings together five colleges from CMU.
Vice Provost of Research Gary Fedder expanded on the theme with a lecture on the contribution of CMU researchers to the advancement of 3-D printing.
Charlee Brodsky, professor of photography from the School of Design, finished the week by describing why photography should be examined at a university level in this age of digital tools.
Staff Receive Discount to Tepper Executive Education Programs
All CMU staff are eligible for a 33 percent discount off open enrollment programs offered by Tepper School Executive Education. Programs are offered in Advanced Analytics and Leadership for Women.

Take Our Daughters & Sons to Work Day Registration Underway
Online registration for Take Our Daughters & Sons to Work Day is now open and will continue through April 22.
Sponsored by Staff Council, this year’s Take Our Daughters & Sons to Work Day is Thursday, April 28. The national program theme is “Sparking Aha Moments.” Faculty and staff are encouraged to bring their children between the ages of 8 and 15 to campus to give them a glimpse of the wide range of career and learning opportunities that exist at CMU. Following the lunch program, activity sessions will be held at 1:15 and 2:15 p.m. Students will register for a track that includes two activities.

Responsible Research Conduct Sessions Offered
CMU's Office of Research Integrity and Compliance (ORIC) is sponsoring two more Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Brown Bag Sessions this semester for faculty, students and staff. All sessions are from 12 – 1 p.m. in the Cohon Center’s Connan room, as follows:
- Wednesday, April 20: Intellectual Property at CMU; and
- Wednesday, April 27: Data Management Planning.
