Andy Award Nominations Due July 10
Nominations for this year’s Andy Awards, the university-wide staff recognition program, are due July 10. Individual staff members and teams of colleagues whose work has had a significant impact on the university are recognized for their outstanding performance and commitment to excellence through the Andy Awards program.
Awards are given in six categories: Dedication, Commitment to Students, Innovation, Culture, University Citizenship and Community Contributions.

School of Music Centennial Magazine Now Available
The School of Music has published a magazine to pay tribute to its first 100 years. The publication offers an insider's view of what it means to be a music student at CMU, including the September concert premiere of “Centennial Suite,” and a feature article, titled "Andrew Carnegie's School of Music," penned by Robert Fallon, assistant professor of musicology. Fallon’s article reaffirms why Andrew Carnegie is considered one of the fathers of modern philanthropy. Although not a musician himself, Carnegie believed that Pittsburgh could be more than just a steel town; and through his gifts, Carnegie Mellon is now one of the leading universities for arts and sciences.
The magazine also honors Maestro Robert Page, who retired this year after nearly 40 illustrious years at CMU. He joined the university as head of the School of Music in 1975. Watch the video produced in honor of his contributions.

ETC Ranked No. 2 Among Top US Schools for Game Design
Animation Career Review has ranked the Entertainment Technology Center 2nd in its list of the top 50 U.S. schools for game design and development. The criteria used included academic reputation, admission selectivity, depth and breadth of the program and faculty, and geographic location.
“As a leader in the world of technology and art, it’s not surprising that Carnegie Mellon is home to several of the world’s top programs for aspiring game designers,” says Animation Career Review, which called the ETC’s master’s degree program in entertainment technology “unique” and “rare.”

Miller Gallery Seeks Riot Grrrl Materials
The Miller Gallery is working on an exhibition about the lasting impact of Riot Grrrl, an underground feminist punk rock movement that started in the early 1990s. As part of the exhibit, the gallery is seeking posters or flyers from Riot Grrrl shows, conferences or meetings. Email high-res scans (300dpi) of your poster/flyer submissions to riotgrrrlcensus@gmail.com or mail photocopies to Miller Gallery at Carnegie Mellon, Purnell Center for the Arts #G302, 5000 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15213, with the following information: owner / short description of poster / bands / year / venue / dimensions / designer.

Seeking Senior Citizens for Classes in Dalcroze Eurhythmics
Annabelle Joseph, director of the Marta Sanchez Dalcroze Training Center at the School of Music, is recruiting active senior citizens to participate in classes in Dalcroze Eurhythmics, a method that engages brain and body in response to music.
Maintaining mental alertness and agility is essential as we age. Four areas of learning: physical, cognitive, social and emotional are involved in this process. All four areas are at play in a Dalcroze Eurhythmics class as participants experience the joy of music.
Classes will be available to 15 people age 65 and over. Participants should be mobile and able to attend four afternoon sessions from 3 - 4:30 p.m., July 2, 3 and July 9,10 at Margaret Morrison Carnegie Hall 119. For more information and to register, contact Joseph at aj12@andrew.cmu.edu.
Alumni Award Nominations Now Open
The Alumni Association is accepting nominations in the Achievement and Service categories through Sunday, Sept. 1 for the 2014 Alumni Awards. Each year, the Alumni Association honors alumni, students and faculty who have given outstanding service to the university, and alumni who have achieved exceptional success in their chosen professions. A nomination form, list of previous award recipients, and descriptions of the award categories can be found at http://www.alumni.cmu.edu/awards. Hunt Library Elevator Out of Service
The Hunt Library elevator will be out of service for major repair through mid-August. A total shutdown is required to fix electrical damage sustained from flooding in the library last summer. The library will be open during the elevator shutdown. Access to the upper floors and basement will be by stairs only.
