Carnegie Mellon chemical engineering students placed fifth out of 32 teams in the annual Chem-E-Car Competition, sponsored by The American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). This year's Oct. 16 event challenged students to transport 350 milliliters of water 68 feet. The competition will be held in Pittsburgh in 2012.
Staff Council has arranged for members of the Carnegie Mellon University community to purchase discounted tickets to the Pittsburgh Opera's 2011-12 season. Housing and Dining Services is conducting the National Association of College and University Food Services Customer Satisfaction Survey from Monday, Oct. 31 through Sunday, Nov. 13. Auditions for the 2012 Campus Superstar competition (http://www.hilleljuc.org/campussuperstar/) sponsored by the Hillel Jewish University Center of Pittsburgh and modeled after "American Idol," will be held from 6:30 - 9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the University of Pittsburgh's William Pitt Union, Room 504. Auditions are open to any full-time undergraduate or graduate student from any local Pittsburgh university. Students should prepare 16-32 bars, A cappella, and avoid originial music.
