Iris Howley, HCI
2nd  yr PIER, 2nd yr HCI
During her undergraduate career Iris focused on applying Semantic Web technologies to various domains such as applications for first responders on unpredictable wireless networks, a robot classification system for urban search and rescue, and interpreting log data from robot creation software for children. After graduating from Drexel University with a BS in Computer Science and a minor in Arabic, Iris decided to switch focus and center her attention on the learning sciences. She hopes the interdisciplinary nature of PIER will aid her in her goals to reduce math anxiety in school-aged children via a technological approach. Somewhat unrelated to these goals, you might be surprised to know that at one time Iris had at least basic conversational skills in four languages.
