Each year the Special Events Committee plans a rich program of events in which members may participate. See our Calendar for this year's schedule.

Lectures: During the months of January through May and September through December, Osher sponsors a once-monthly evening lecture. The lectures are held in the Connan Room of the University Center. Carnegie Mellon professors and well known community members including physicians, authors and media professionals are often invited to speak for one hour, with a question and answer period following the presentation. 2007 speakers included Dr. Donald Marinelli, Martin Aurand, Lester B. Lave, Jodi Wu, Dena Haritos Tsamitis, Sheila Soloman, Dr. Ronald H. Linden, and His Royal Highness Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein, Jordan’s Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Representative to the United Nations. To date, 2008 speakers have included Elden J. Gatwood, Brian O'Neill, Dr. Bruce Rabin and Dan Simpson. The lecture series will resume in September. Members and those on the waiting list are invited to monthly lectures.

Trips: Osher sponsors both one day trips and multi-day trips several times throughout the year. 2008 anticipated trips include:

One-Day Trips: April trip to the historic Bedford Springs Hotel and to the Duncan House, a Frank Lloyd Wright Home.

Multi-Day Trips: July trip to the Shaw Festival, Niagara on the Lake

Luncheons: Luncheons are held four to six times per year at popular, unique or ethnic restaurants in the area. In 2007, gatherings were held at Luma (Aspinwall), The Silk Elephant (Squirrel Hill) and the Duquesne Club (Downtown Pittsburgh).
