Registrar/ Administrative Assistant

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Carnegie Mellon University is in need of a professional, well organized individual to act as Registrar for our organization. This is an hourly, part-time position (32-34 hours/wk).

The Registrar will plan, organize and coordinate the activities of the office of registrar, including managing and implementing Osher policies and procedures related to registration, and overseeing enrollment procedures.

  • Requires a collaborative and flexible work style and the ability to interact effectively with a variety of audiences and departments.
  • Requires excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate and respond to members, volunteers and external parties in a professional and timely manner.
  • Must have strong written communication skills including the ability to read, interpret, edit and complete documents.
  • Requires attention to detail, strong organizational competence and the ability to coordinate multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
  • Must be: Able to work with frequent interruptions and professionally respond to variations in schedules and plans. Self directed with strong problem-solving skills including the ability to develop innovative approaches and ideas and meet challenges with resourcefulness. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Access 2007, 2010.
  • Interest and ability to learn new software.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise member registration process.
  • Schedule classes in Osher classrooms on and off campus locations.
  • Communicate with Instructors, Class Assistants and members.
  • Represent Registration during Curriculum Committee Meetings.
  • Supervise and train Front Desk Volunteers.

Preferred Qualifications

Education /Training: Two or more years experience in an academic office directly related to registration and enrollment preferred. Experience with online registration preferred.
