AARP, LivePitch Media Announce 10 LivePitch Startup Finalists for 2014 Health Innovation@50+AARP and LivePitch Media today announced announced the 10 LivePitch startup pitch and demo day finalists for the third AARP Health Innovation@50+ LivePitch, a showcase of the hottest startups in the “50 and over” health technology market. AARP LivePitch takes place Friday, May 9, at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. It is unique among startup pitch and demo events because it gives startups access not only to venture capitalists and angel investors but to thousands of fifty-and-over consumers. AARP Health Innovation@50 + LivePitch takes place at the bi-annual AARP Life@50+ AARP National Event & Expo, which is attended by 15,000 members and guests from across the globe.
“This year we attracted 193 excellent companies that applied to be one of our 10 finalists. In the two years we have conducted this event, we have seen more companies apply and a growing number attract investment,” said Jody Holtzman, AARP’s Senior Vice President of Thought Leadership. “Having all of these great companies to choose from, however, made for some tough decisions when it came time to determine the finalists. After careful consideration, we came away with 10 strong companies who we think are poised to make an impact in healthcare for those 50 and over – and for everyone. Not only am I looking forward to seeing each of these companies on stage, but I’m also looking forward to the reactions of our Judges and of AARP members to what these companies have to offer.”
This year’s expert Judges include: Shirley Bergin, Partner, COO/CMO, TEDMED, Peter Grua, Partner, HLM Venture Partners, Mohanjit Jolly, Managing Director, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Euan S. Thomson, Operating Partner, Khosla Ventures and Krishna Yeshwant, General Partner, Google Ventures
