Study Abroad Opportunities**
Semester or Year Programs
Summer is a wonderful time to take advantage of an experience abroad, whether it be to study, work/intern, research, or volunteer abroad. Most students study abroad through External Programs during the summer, though some academic departments at Carnegie Mellon offer Faculty Led/Departmental Summer Programs in the summer. These programs can vary year to year.
It is important to note that university, state, and federal funding generally are not applicable for summer study abroad. Click here for a sampling of some Summer study abroad opportunities in conjunction through CMU.
In addition to studying abroad, there are also many Work and Volunteer Opportunities abroad. Students can complete an internship or service learning project as part of a study abroad program or independently. Click here for a sampling of some Work and Volunteer Opportunities abroad.
**Countries where the US State Department has a Travel Warning in effect are typically not eligible for Sponsored status, Exchange status, or OIE funding. In cases where the travel warning is location-specific within a country, the request will be reviewed by the University on a case by case basis.
