Freshman Orientation

A MESSAGE FROM THE COMMANDING OFFICER

WELCOME ABOARD!  This traditional greeting is our way in the Naval Service of saying "we're glad you're here."  It is but one of the many rich traditions upon which the modern Navy and Marine Corps are built.  With such a strong foundation and guidance from future leaders such as yourself, I am confident that the United States Navy and Marine Corps will continue to be the finest military organization in the world.  As you begin your Naval career here at Carnegie Mellon NROTC, rest assured that we are eager to help you get started and to help you excel, both professionally and academically.

As a midshipman you will earn a valuable college degree, develop your leadership skills, become and stay physically fit, and learn more about the heritage and traditions of the Navy and Marine Corps.  The beginning of that process is Freshman Orientation.  Your training will be exciting and rewarding.  Based on your past success, I am confident that you are up to the challenge.

Remember, the NROTC staff is here to assist you, and my door is always open.  I'm looking forward to meeting each of you.

Again, welcome aboard!  You are joining a very special group of dedicated and professional people who make up the Navy and Marine Corps team.
