COMMANDING OFFICER

MIKE C. TOMON, CAPTAIN, U.S. NAVY

CAPT Mike Tomon is a native of New Castle, Pennsylvania. He graduated from
Penn State University with a degree in Civil Engineering, where he was commissioned
through the NROTC program in December of 1999. After completing the Naval Nuclear
Propulsion pipeline, he reported to the USS TENNESSEE (B) (SSBN 734), completing
five strategic deterrent patrols.

After TENNESSEE, he reported to Trident Training Facility in Kings Bay, Georgia, where he served as a Tactics Instructor. While on his shore duty, CAPT Tomon earned his Masters of Engineering Management from Old Dominion University.
 
In April, 2007, he reported aboard USS BOISE (SSN 764) as the Weapons Officer. On board, he deployed to the European theater and BOISE was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Submarine Squadron Eight Battle "E" Award. After his Department Head tour, CAPT Tomon reported to Submarine Learning Facility in Norfolk, Virginia as the Tactics Director. While on this shore duty, he completed Joint Professional Military Education, Phase I.
 
He served his Executive Officer tour aboard USS OHIO (B) (SSGN 726), completing a Western Pacific deployment. OHIO earned the Submarine Squadron Nineteen Battle "E" in 2013.
 
After this, he reported to United States Special Operations Command in Tampa, Florida, where he served as the Doctrine Branch Chief.
 
In April of 2018, he relieved as Commanding Officer on USS MAINE (B) (SSBN 741) and completed an engineered refueling overhaul. He completed Demonstration and Shakedown Operations, firing two Trident II D-5 test missiles to successfully return the ship to strategic service. He completed one deterrent patrol on board.
 
CAPT Tomon is married to the former Holly Monheit of Goose Creek, South Carolina.
