CMU Congratulates GE on Plans for New Manufacturing Facility

By Ken Walters / 412-268-1151

GE LogoPITTSBURGH—Carnegie Mellon University congratulates the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and GE on the company's plans to build a new advanced manufacturing facility in the region. We are excited they have chosen this site after meeting with CMU's administrators and faculty, many who are leading experts in advanced manufacturing. We believe our strengths in advanced materials, nanotechnology and robotics were instrumental in GE's decision to locate this exciting new facility in southwestern Pennsylvania.

It’s an exciting time, as more dynamic companies continue to gravitate toward CMU’s and the region’s excellent talent base in the science and technology fields. Over the past several years, CMU has attracted Google, Intel, Apple and Disney to the region. We are pleased to join with the Governor's Action Team and the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance in welcoming GE's new facility, which we believe will shape the future of additive manufacturing. We also look forward to collaborating with GE and these organizations as we build the region's manufacturing strengths to meet both national and global challenges.
