News Brief: President Cohon Goes to World Economic Forum

Carnegie Mellon President Jared L. Cohon will be participating in this year's prestigious World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Jan. 26-30. The theme for this year's annual meeting, which brings together the world's business, political and academic leaders, is "Shared Norms for the New Reality." Discussions will focus on how the world is becoming increasingly complex and interconnected, and at the same time experiencing an erosion of common values that undermines public trust in leadership, economic growth and political stability.

On Thursday, Jan. 27, President Cohon will moderate an interactive group session titled "Getting Things Done: Macro and Micro Strategies," which will address using technology to help increase productivity at the group and individual levels. The meeting will include discussion leaders from the United Kingdom, India, Vietnam and Germany.

President Cohon's participation in the forum follows a campus visit by Michele Petochi, director and head of university community for the World Economic Forum, this past December. Petochi visited CMU to talk with university administrators, faculty and students.
