Event: Carnegie Mellon University’s Ed Schlesinger will receive a $70,000 scholarship grant from the GM Foundation to support outstanding student research and studies at the university’s top-ranked College of Engineering.

The partnership supplements auto industry initiatives to provide passengers safe and easy access to information and entertainment.

“Our longstanding collaboration with GM is an important part of Carnegie Mellon’s focus as we strive to provide skilled leaders and innovators so critical to helping the nation remain competitive in an ever- changing global environment,” said Schlesinger, head of Carnegie Mellon’s renowned Electrical and Computer Engineering Department.

Students from Carnegie Mellon’s Collaborative Lab will get to meet top engineers responsible for the design of the Chevrolet Volt electric car with extended range capability, and will get to experience the Volt’s technology firsthand.

When: 1 p.m. (Press availability), GM Grant presentation, Thursday, Feb. 10.
