Jared L. CohonJared L. Cohon, a highly acclaimed university administrator, civil engineer, professor and government adviser, served as Carnegie Mellon University's eighth president from 1997 to 2013.

Under Cohon's leadership, the university has expanded globally and now offers graduate degree programs in Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America, and has an undergraduate campus in Doha, Qatar.

After a sabbatical, Cohon will join the CMU departments of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering and Public Policy.
