Healthy Campus Kickoff
Resolving to drop a few pounds and get fit this year? Carnegie Mellon’s Athletic Department can help.
The department will kick off its Healthy Campus 2010 initiative with an Olympic-style opening ceremony from 12:15 to 12:45 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 14 in the University Center Gym. All students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in the opening ceremony and register for this year’s Fitness Challenge, which challenges you to exercise 20 minutes per day, four times a week for the next six weeks (Jan. 25 – March 6).
If you’re looking for the exercise or activity best for you, stop by the department’s Fitness Open House from 12:15 to 1 p.m., Friday, Jan. 15 in the University Center. Athletic Department staff will be at all the recreational venues to answer questions and offer advice on racquetball, squash, basketball, volleyball, swimming, spinning, running, fitness, cardio equipment, personal training and strength training.
Check out the department’s Web site at http://www.cmu.edu/athletics/recreation/fitness/index.html for group fitness classes.
