And the Award Goes To...

Just can't wait for the Grammys and the Oscars? Well, the 2008 Carnegie Science Awards may have a little less star power, but Carnegie Mellon was well-represented on the list of winners announced today.

The Robotics Institute took home top honors, winning the Chairman's Award. The institute's profile in the awards' press kit noted its "reputation as the best place on Earth for robotics research." The Entertainment Technology Center earned recognition in the Information Technology category, while Tiziana DiMatteo was tabbed for the "Emerging Female Scientist" accolade. DiMatteo is an associate professor in the Department of Physics.

The awards are presented by the Carnegie Science Center and sponsored by Eaton Corporation.
