Elite Engineers

To help celebrate its 100th anniversay the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) has created a list of the "One Hundred Engineers of the Modern Era." And two Carnegie Mellon professors have made the elite list. They are Professor Ignacio Grossmann and Emeritus Professor Herbert Toor.

Grossmann was recognized for mixed integer nonlinear programming, model formulation, and solutions for process design and operation. Toor was honored for seminal reactive multicomponent mixing research. The "Toor Test" is the industry standard for assessing relative mixing and reaction rates.
